About me
I am an Associate Professor at the Division of Systems and Control, Department of Information Technology, Uppsala University. My research interests lie in physics-informed machine learning and applications of machine learning in physics.
I am also the Director of Studies at our division, responsible for proposing staffing plans, and developing and ensuring the quality of our courses.

2026-02-02 [New PhD student] Victor Maloisel started today as Industrial PhD student together with NKT. Victor will be working on the SSF grant that we got accepted in end of 2025 and will be supervised by myself and Annica Black-Schaffer from Uppsala University as well as an industrial supervisor at the company.
2026-01-19 [New Course Start] Second instance of our Deep learning course started today with more than 140 registered students!
2025-11-07 [Grant Accepted] Together with Annica Black-Schaffer and NKT we have been accapted a grant on the call SSF Industrial Doctoral Studentship on the project Machine learning improving superconductivity in power cables.
2025-11-07 [PhD Thesis Defended] Philipp Pilar, my first doctoral student as main supervisor, today sucessfully defended his PhD thesis Physics-Informed Machine Learning for Regression and Generative Modeling. The opponent was Prof. Richard Wilkinsson.
2025-04-01 [New role] I have taken over as Director of Studies at the Division of System and Control.
2025-02-13 [Grant Accepted] Vladislav Borisov and I have been awarded a grant for a WASP-WISE Pilot project entitled Computer design of new class of green magnets for energy applications and next-generation computing to be compleded during 2025 and 2026.
2025-01-20 [New Course] Our brand new course, Deep learning, started today with more than 100 registered students!
2025-01-07 [New PhD student] Isabella Rudengren started today as PhD student on Physics-informed Machine Learning, to be supervised by myself and Torbjörn Wigren.
